How to set up a dropdown question in JumpLMS
Dropdown questions ask Learners to choose the correct answer from a dropdown list of options.
You can include one or more dropdowns in a single question, making this question type useful for sentence completion, knowledge checks and short scenario-based questions.
Note: In surveys, dropdown options are shown in the order you enter them. In tests, dropdown options are presented in a random order.
How to set up a dropdown question
-
Click on the Courses tab.
-
Search for the course you want to add the question to, or find it in the list.
-
If you are using a touchscreen device, click the course thumbnail. If you are using a computer, hover over the course thumbnail.
-
Click Edit course.
-
Click on the Content tab.
-
Find the test or survey element in the Course Elements list and click Edit. Alternatively, click Add Test or Add Survey to create a new element.
-
Click Dropdown in the Add a question panel.
-
Enter the question text and/or images. Alternatively, click Ask JumpAI to write your question. JumpAI can use the course and test titles to generate the question, options and feedback for you.
-
Write your answer statement in the Answer field:
- Use [brackets] to define each dropdown list.
- Separate the options inside the brackets using a | symbol.
- Put the correct answer first in each set of brackets.
-
For example, this statement expects the Learner to select Tuesday in the first dropdown list and Sunday in the second:
The day that comes after Monday is [Tuesday|Wednesday|Thursday|Friday], the day that comes before Monday is [Sunday|Saturday|Friday|Thursday].
-
If the question is in a test, enter feedback text, or leave it blank if you do not want to display feedback after the question has been submitted.
-
Click Add question.
The question will be activated and added to the end of the test or survey. You can preview how it looks by clicking the Preview icon.
